eMi's design work is almost completed and we will be able to start serious fundraising soon. Praise God for bringing us to this exciting point in our Capital Campaign. Please pray for us for the following:
- For paperwork that will need to be completed and submitted in accordance with Filipino regulations for construction to commence.
- For Construction Manager, Josh McKenzie and his wife Brit as they raise the necessary funds to allow them to come and oversee the project in January 2009.
- For US$125,000 to be raised by the end of 2008 to allow commencement of construction on the wall to secure the site (currently US$90,000.
- For our International Partners and Friends as they pray about thier part and role in helping us.
The Sacred Portion Children's Outreach

Last October we spent nine days with the team from Engineering Ministries International (EMI) at the Rehoboth Children's Home to develop a master site plan for the expansion of the Rehoboth Children's Home. The expansion will take place on a 5 acre tract of land located directly across the road from the current facility. By the end of the nine days, EMI had hammered out a preliminary site plan with three phases of development and an estimated cost for each phase.
Our first priority is to expand the orphanage by building BONNIE'S HEART BABY HOME so that more children can be served. However, our bigger vision is to address what causes children in the Philippines to be abandoned by their birth families, namely poverty and a lack of resources. Thus, the master site plan includes community outreach in the form of a medical clinic, vocational training facility, education foundation and other services to support families and help them rise above their circumstances. After a six month process of each EMI team member diligently working on their assigned part of the design, we are close to having a finalized site plan with detailed drawings and schematics.
We are looking at a $1 million price tag to build all three phases of the project and another $1 million endowment to support the operation of the expanded facilities. So, how does one go about raising that kind of money especially when you've never done it before??? Understanding our clueless condition as to how to even begin, God graciously sent us someone to help. Tim Hart, a local realtor with marketing and fundraising experience, heard our presentation at the Evangelical Free Church and contacted us, expressing a desire to help. Since that time, Tim has successfully organized a CAPITAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE for the Rehoboth Expansion Project. The committee is composed of community people who have been touched by the vision and are committed to helping us raise the funds. The people on the CAPITAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE will be developing contacts of potential donors and helping to tell the story of the children in the Philippines for whom we strive to give the hope of a brighter future. Our goal is to raise the funds for Phase I and begin construction by January, 2009.
